Now after they had gone away, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to seek the child to destroy him.”
~ Matthew 2:13, LEB ~
The vigor of receiving personal revelation will be in exact proportion to our own willingness to commit ourselves over to the spiritual disciplines of a mindful and crucified Christian life. One of those disciplines is studying the scriptures our Heavenly Father has provided for us. The purpose of meditating on the scriptures is to bring each one of us unto Christ. To prepare us by learning those spiritual truths to apply to our own lives so that we may become Holy unto God.
Scriptures are priceless gifts and tools for us to use in order to learn of Christ and follow Him. Yet, many of us keep ourselves from developing this important spiritual discipline. By doing so we are denying ourselves the fountain of knowledge and understanding of those things our Heavenly Father desires for us to learn. This includes learning how to listen for the voice of the Spirit.
How are we to walk in faithful obedience if we are not aware of the will of our Heavenly Father? How are we to receive guidance and direction if we neglect the discipline of studying the scriptures daily? How are we to receive warnings from the Holy Spirit if we are not studious in our daily scripture study and prayer?

A genuine mindful and crucified Christian life is one where we are able to receive divine revelation from our Heavenly Father. Sometimes we are warned of things. Other times we are guided to minister to others. Other times, we may be guided to make a decision that is not one we had thought of on our own. Such experience only comes to those who are active in their fellowship with following Christ. Fellowship with others who are also seeking Christ and following Him. Sacrificing our own time and talents for the Kingdom of God and glorifying our Heavenly Father.
Like Joseph, we are never able to do what is asked of us to do without the guidance and help from our Heavenly Father. Not only did Joseph receive revelation, so also the Wise men who came and worshiped the Savior.
Today, we may face many dangers that threaten us. Whether they are physical or spiritual dangers, our Heavenly Father gives us the necessary guidance that gives us protection to face such dangers. What experiences have you had where God gave you a warning? How does fellowship and studying the scriptures help you in receiving personal revelation for your own life? For your family? Friends?
Today’s Thought and Reminder
Each one of us has a responsibility to grow in fellowship with the Savior and with others. Through our faithful diligence in studying the scriptures, applying the spiritual truths in our lives, and continue to follow Christ -we shall experience those times where we receive personal revelation. Whether it is to warn us, give us direction, or bring comfort and wisdom; we are endowed with the presence of the Holy Spirit that guides us.
If we neglect our spiritual disciplines and lack the fellowship with Christ – we shall not receive personal revelation needed to navigate our life.
