… Jesus went into Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God. and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the gospel!”
~ Mark 1:14-15, LEB ~
The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is one that calls us from our sin if we are to experience the power of this Kingdom in our lives.
Living in a society where there is much desperation because people feel that God has abandoned them. Today’s children and youth are disturbed. Household debt is increasing, and there are constant news stories of crime being on the rise, physical violence, theft, and sexual exploitation. What are we to do? What action is needed? And what are the necessary steps we ought to take?
When John the Baptist was taken into custody – Jesus Christ began His ministry and preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Calling forth all to believe and repent. To come unto Him and follow Him. And the invitation to repent and believe requires each person an opportunity to give up our compulsive escapes from life. Whether these escapes are co-dependent relationships, substance use, pornography, greed, sex, gluttony, lust, or emotional binges. Giving these up is what Christ meant when he called forth each person to deny themselves and to take up their cross in order to properly follow after Him. It is a call and invitation toward living a mindful crucified life through Christ where we begin to experience true feelings. Finding greater joy in life and experience the pain and suffering that comes with addressing the sins and transgressions that have separated us from God.

Today, we miss the simplicity of Christ’s message. We miss the urgency of His words. And we miss the way in which he ministered and taught those who came unto Him. Much like the First Century – we are living in a time where it is of utmost importance to call forth repentance and belief in the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Each one of us are called to learn how to deal with life – all of it, one moment at a time, through faith in Jesus Christ. We embrace pain as part of our experience and spiritual growth. Because of our personal sins and transgressions, our spiritual life was delayed. We did not learn how to properly deal with our suffering and pain because of our compulsive need to escape. Our own personal spiritual journey is one that brings us into fellowship with others who are seeking to recover their true identity and purpose. A reawakening of life through Christ where we no longer need to escape suffering.
Therefore, what we are called to do is to build the type of character that defines who we are when nobody else is watching. Living a mindful crucified Christian life is where we are no longer doing things that are not and attempting to hide them from others. Because our Heavenly Father is watching. Instead, we are living a mindful and crucified life where we know that we must seek, to the best of our ability, to follow His commandments. When we do, our character will take care of itself.
If you have not yet entered into a real faith in Christ where you commit to deny yourself, take up your cross and follow after Him – then what are you waiting for? What is preventing you from seeking forgiveness and coming unto Christ to allow our Heavenly Father to receive you into His kingdom and glory?
Today’s Thought and Reminder
There is an urgency for each one of us to repent and to continue to come unto Christ and follow Him. An urgency to believe in the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. For when we do – we are already received into our Heavenly Father’s kingdom.
By living a mindful crucified life, we receive peace and hope that comes from placing our trust in Christ and in our Heavenly Father.
